We are about to leave for San Antonio again and I realized I hadn't updated from the last visit. The muscles aches faded and so has my memory! Maybe I can pull most of the details up.
Meg and I left Friday to get things started. Kenny had to work and didn't come until Saturday and left Sunday. That only gave him a few hours to knock out the list. It was a quick trip but we did a LOT in those hours.
nice and green, but dangerous.
My main goal was to clean off the fence (above) of all the growth that was overtaking about 4 feet into the yard. The initial plan was to trim it back so it would still be green but hide the stockade fence on the other side of the chain link. Why didn't someone take down one of the fences? There was about 6 inches between the 2 it was sooooo hard getting it cut down. We considered taking the fence down, but it would have required too much additional work and we would have to take down some trees. Turns out that most of the "shrubs" on the fence were thorny somethings, so I took everything out except the honeysuckle. Hopefully it will grow back quickly and cover the fence.
yikes! thorn free but pretty ugly now! back to front view.
front to back view.
It took 3 days to clear it all off the fence. I was a scratched up, sore mess.
We also got all the cabinet doors and drawers painted. It was windy outside so we had to paint in the garage. Our sprayer didn't work and I ended up brushing all 40 something doors/drawers in that very hot, unventilated garage.
Kenny brought down the countertops that he had poured to be sure they fit before he poured the rest. These are 2 inch slabs of concrete so it was like he was moving a sidewalk onto the cabinets...by himself. What a man!
He also prepped the floors with tar paper and put down the subfloors for the hardwood that is coming later.
All this done in about 20 hours.
Next up, countertops, tiles and plumbing.
