Eggstravaganza!

When B was in maybe 4th or 5th grade, he said that he missed having Easter egg hunts. Because Meg was already too old (we thought) for hunts, we had stopped doing them. It made me sad that I had cheated him out of some childhood experiences. That's when we started having hunts for the older crowd. At first it was just for older kids with candy and things like earrings, lip gloss and stuff like that in eggs. Then it became an egg hunt on steroids.

Today was the annual Cloud Easter Eggstravaganza. Around 40 people of all ages with their eye on the prize(egg). In addition to candy, we've had bath beads, movie tickets, lottery tickets, gift cards, nail clippers, jewelry, makeup, confetti eggs, pictures of Rick Curtis, and, of course, MONEY.
looks like Tanya was the lucky winner of the Rick pic this year.

We started small, but it has increased throughout the years and so has the fun. For the past 2 years we've had a $100 egg in addition to several $20's, 10's, 5's and loads of 1's. Other folks bring eggs filled with change, too, so the purse gets quite big. The hunt encompasses 5 houses; the front and back yards of 3 houses and the front of 2 yards. It takes about 30-45 mins. for 2 people (Kenny and me) to hide the eggs and about 30-45 mins to find them all ( Well, really about a year. I found a $5 egg from last year in my flower bed a few weeks ago). Craziness! If you come, you hunt, and this hunt isn't for the faint of heart. Lots of running and pushing and strategizing.
The hunt begins.

Afterwards, everyone sits around and checks out their loot, then accuses the winner of the $100 of cheating.

This is Michael. He found the $100 last year, too. Folks were not too happy. (I don't know why the heck this is underline-ing now. I can't get it to stop!)
This was the first year in a looooong time that we've have enough little ones to have a separate hunt, but this year we did. They didn't get as excited as we did, but then again, they didn't have money eggs, just candy that they couldn't eat.

We had a great time and I'm glad that we are still making memories for our kids. Now we are even making them for their kids.
