So today it has been 3 weeks since our Little Critter joined our family. Hard to believe he was never here before. I guess in a way he has, but just in my mind and genderless! I'm doing all the things I dreamed about doing. Buying cute clothes, singing (to a person who won't judge), reading and signing to him. He is mesmerized by my hands when I sign. We've had a lot of fun dressing him up and just holding him. I love watching Meg and Eddie parent. Last night when Eddie got home from work, he sat down on the couch and had Meg hand the baby to him. He put Reid on his chest and said "This is like a drug, but better."
We've had a few rough days. We noticed a rash on the front of his diaper area and pointed it out to the dr at his 2 week ck up. They thought it might be staph, so he is on some serious antibiotics. That's been fun. Our calm little guy turns into a fuss budget an hour or so after he eats until he can pass all the gas, etc. that the meds have caused. Nights are worse because he can't sleep on his tummy to help push it out. Last night, he and I pulled an all-nighter with him sleeping on my chest as I sat up in bed. No complaining here, though. I loved every sleep deprived minute.
Memaw was able to come and spend a few days. The plan was for my dad and her to come the day before I left so Meg would have continuous help, and that plan still stands. She couldn't wait to see him, though, so she flew in long enough to confirm that he is a beautiful baby, looks great in every color and is the best baby she's ever seen. She also hogged all the holding time.
Instead of posting a few pictures, I tried to make a slideshow with my new computer. I really don't know how this will work so if it looks weird on your end, please let me know.
It worked. (Both the slide show and the smiles it generated!) Precious.
