Today is a gift I did for Helena. I wanted to make a quiet book for both the kids, but because she is still a little bitty, I didn't want to use any snaps, buttons, etc. I had seen a photo quiet book on Pinterest and that was my inspiration. Mine was a little more simple, but I really liked the way it turned out.
The tutorial used transfer paper, but I didn't want to buy any. It gets a little expensive and I am prone to a few mistakes along the way. I didn't want the project to add up in cost. Instead, I made a concoction to treat cotton to make it printable. I used fusible interfacing to add a little stiffness to make it easier feed thru the printer. The tutorial for this said to use freezer paper. I would LOVE to use freezer paper but have had NO luck finding any and I'm not going to pay an arm and a leg to order it off Amazon. If any of you out there know where I can get some, let me know! I found some pics that I liked and used a kid-like font to print everyone's name. I tried to cram as much as possible onto the sheets and I only needed 4 total to print it all.
I have lots and lots of fabric and was glad to have a reason to use it. The hard part was deciding which to use and where to use it. I cut it into 9x9 squares, wanting the finished product to be 8x8. I used fusible bonding stuff the attach the pics and names before zigzagging them on. I won't go into details about any mess-ups, but there were a few. Nothing to worry about, just my typical mis-measuring problems :). I sewed each page together with some batting in between, with right sides together, and then turned them right side out, pressing well and then sewing all the pages together. I used a little more fabric to make a binding and there you have it.
I was completely satisfied with the book. I love the colors, the font and the way the pictures printed on the fabric. I can't wait
Very Cute idea!
