After one week, all the girls left and Kenny got there, along with Janet and her husband, Mark. Kenny loooooves New York and will come with me at the drop of a hat, but he was especially excited to have a guy to hang with. We did couple things like a tasting tour and dinner, but Kenny and Mark enjoyed their bonding time, too (or maybe they just said that so they wouldnt have to hang with the girls). It was hotter than heck unless it was flooding, but we had fun despite the weather.
I was able to check two more things off my bucket list Sunday. Early Sunday morning, I met Lori so we could attend church at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Bed Stuy. I am an unashamed religious voyeur. I love all things religious. I am intrigued by ritual, worship and customs. I was not disappointed. It was a wonderful service with an inspiring message, great gospel singing and more hugs and hats than I've ever experienced in church. As soon as we finished there, I picked Kenny up and we headed to a Jewish baby naming ceremony. It was for a family friend and I had planned on shooting it. It was a moving celebration and incredibly interesting.
Kenny and I headed to the 9/11 Memorial, something on his list. I'm not sure what I expected, it was moving and reverent but didn't feel depressing or dark. We were glad we went.
Shari came Tuesday, Mark left Wednesday so Kenny was again out numbered, although he didn't care. The rest of the week was filled with shows and what we love to do most, eating. Janet picked up tix to Sister Act for all of us, I got some tickets at TKTS for Nice Work if You Can Get it and Kenny won lottery tix for Newsies. I liked it so much that I wanted to see it again, and I knew he would like it. It was even better because the tickets were so cheap.
J and S left Saturday, Eddie came in the night before and the rest of our family, including the Wineteer clan, arrived that weekend. Fun and mayhem ensued.
