Two Months Old!

It is hard to believe that two months have passed since I was writing blog posts about Baby Wingnut. We talked about how it would be difficult to call the new baby by its name once it was born since we'd called it Wingnut for so long. However, from the moment Helena was born, she's never been anything else (well, sort of...she's also Nell, Nellie Belly, sunshine, sugar doll, and Smellena). Without further ado, this is what our precious girl looks like at two whole months old.

She weighs 14.7 pounds now, which is pretty close to what her brother weighed at this age. She started smiling at around 5 weeks and now has it pretty much perfected. Although she's been cooing for a little while, Helena is just now beginning to talk a lot. Not all has been rainbows and unicorns however, the poor baby has been having quite a bit of trouble with diaper rash. Her problems began when she was about 3 weeks old and have waxed and waned since then. Anyone with a miracle cure is welcome to share it with us since right now she using up her $25 per week Triple Paste allowance. The Triple Paste has to been layered with a prescription diaper cream that is non-formulary and also costs about a million dollars. Basically it costs a ton of money to keep this little girl's bottom looking like someone forgot to change her all day (and that's when it is looking good). Helena isn't one to complain though...Perhaps she is rewarding her parents for their Herculean diapering efforts with her sleep. She's been sleeping in 5-6 hour stretches at night since she was about 4 weeks old. She will usually nap for at least 3 hours in the morning and afternoon. Her favorite time is at night when she loves to kick, laugh, smile and chat it up. While her brother is early to bed, early to rise, Helena lives for the night.

Reid is still loving having his baby sister around. He loves to baby talk to her and show her his toys. He also demands that someone go get Helena the moment that he wakes up. I am constantly impressed by how well he has handled the transition from only child to big brother. As you can see in the picture, Reid is wearing underwear now! His last day in diapers (except at night and nap) was the last day of 2011. I'm not proud or anything...
