The "one"
I'm taking you on a journey, friends. You will be accompanying me on our quest for a house. Not really our quest, 'cause we are more than happy in our little house. This is a search for a place for Meg and Eddie to finally put down roots. Hurray that these roots will be in Texas. Hopefully our next grandbaby will be born a Texan (please don't hold that against Reid, it isn't his fault).
Our plan was to take one weekend to find the perfect house. Parameters being at least 3 bedrooms, good schools and safe neighborhood. Pretty loose parameters! Fixer upper was high on the list, too, since they wanted to do some work to build some equity and put their personality in it. We did a lot of homework before the big weekend. Lots of internet time on Realtor.com, checking our schools and lots of virtual walks around neighborhoods.
We called a realtor and told him what we needed. The perfect house in one weekend. All work would be no fun so we booked a room in a fancy shmancy resort and made the best of it. We did 11 houses in 2 days, in the rain and with a 15 month old. Good times!
These are pictures of some of the houses. Others were so bad we didn't even take pictures.
Next up, Kitchen Impossible. A young mother and a deployed dad try to build equity in their home by redoing a kitchen/family room themselves. By "themselves", they mean a family project where even the great grandparents get involved. Stay tuned for more fun!
