...one last thing

I have spent the week taking care of last minute things. I packed up all of my camera gear after one last photo shoot. It's ready to start it's new mission, documenting every breath of our new Little Critter. I have my new computer and have installed all the software that I need to work on pictures. We have childcare set up for Frasier that required building a new fence in another state. I took care of a last minute Dr. appt and my last football game. The only thing left is a hair cut tomorrow afternoon and I can start my life as a grandma. It looks like it's in the nick of time...Meg learned today that her midwife thinks there is a good chance the baby will be here within 48 hrs. This would be wonderful since Eddie has an interview (not by his choice) that he has to attend in North Carolina on the 1st thru 3rd and one in San Antonio on the 6th, her due date.
One of our lunch bunch added a new baby to his family last week so the group of us went together to get him a gift. As I was shopping for it, I called Meg to ask her opinion about what I had chosen. She said that it was something she wanted so I told her that I would ask them if they would pass it on when they were through with it. She laughed and said, "Why would they let me use it? Our babies will be the same age!" Holy Cow! She's really going to have a baby...soon! As hard as it is to wrap your mind around becoming a parent for the first time, I think it's harder to grasp that your child is about to become a parent. You expect to grow up and have kids. It doesn't make sense that my baby is old enough to have a baby. When I went to deliver the gift, I got to hold the new baby. He was so sweet & soft, and that baby smell.....ahhhh. It was right after I heard about Meg's news and as I held the baby, I kept thinking about the little one I would meet in less than a week, it just doesn't seem real. I almost cried sitting there. Thank you all for letting me ponder this 9 month journey with you. Soon my new journey begins with an additional member in the cast. I can't wait for you to meet it and I can't wait for our sweet baby to meet you!

Here is the last shoot I did. It's probably the last one you'll see here that is not a baby! :-) These are the boys of a fellow looper. More of kids that I've known since before they were born. I can even share some good stories about them at their senior party or wedding reception since the older one also went to my school and the younger one had the unique ability to chase my cat down and pull her tail, throw my coffee beans around the living room and eat candy that he was allergic to before his mom could get into the door good. This boy brought such joy to my day, mainly because he reminded me of my son and the fact that I was out of that phase (and lived through it)!
