2 trips, 1 post

I was lucky enough to be able to visit my daughter 2 times in 3 weeks. The first time was right after my New York trip. I flew straight to Washington, where the kids had arrived the day before. The furniture was supposed to arrive the next day. The reason I was there was to help unpack and set up. We found out that the army had messed up the delivery date and the furniture wasn't coming until after I was scheduled to leave. So instead of unpacking and cleaning, we built a raised garden, worked in the yard and planted flowers. Above is a picture of her new house. For those of you who traveled with me to Philly and saw the previous place, you know this is a mansion! The apt was charming, as all 200 yr. old structures are. Narrow streets, brownstone and tiny stairs to the 3rd floor apt all seem so quaint and sweet until you have to park on those streets (ain't happening) carry furniture and groceries up the stairs (remember, you didn't park in front of the house), and heat/cool that quaintness. When the curtains blow and your windows are closed, you know you have a problem! Couple this fun with about 500 sq. ft of living space and quaint becomes cramped after 4 yrs! And you know that really neat bonus of the landlord living on the first floor so all problems can be taken care of quickly? Seems it's not such a bonus after all. Made for some great stories, though!
Here is a tummy shot of Meg right before I left the first time on June 7, about 18 weeks. Still not too big and maternity clothes weren't necessary. A good thing, too, since she hadn't had time to shop since they left Philly May 20. When I got back on June 15, things had changed quite a bit. The house was unpacked, mostly, Eddie had started work and Meg had BLOSSOMED. We spent part of every day shopping for maternity clothes. I went a little crazy. If it was maternity and it fit, I bought it. We even had to buy "maternity" shoes to match the ever growing maternity wardrobe! I haven't had so much fun shopping for her since she was little and we did our before school shopping. Great fun, great bonding. The best part was that I got to bring home her clothes that don't fit her anymore to make room in the closet. I now possess cute and stylish clothing! We were able to finish up unpacking and decorating the house, too, and even had a day to pick strawberries at a u-pick-it farm.

This is a picture just 2 weeks later. I guess the baby realized there is more room in this house and could stretch out! This was during one of our daily maternity fashion shows.

This sonogram was taken of the baby at 21 weeks, last Monday. Kenny says it looks like me. I don't know about that, but it's a pretty cute little profile, isn't it? We now have Skype set up and I can watch her garden grow and her tummy grow!

  1. This is totally shallow, BUT I MUST know where that darling yellow top came from! I'll need the maternity clothes sooner rather than later this time!!
