DIY #5: Road to Christmas
If you know Reid, you know he has a passion for anything with wheels. He especially likes trucks. No matter what there is to play with, he will usually find the things he can drive. The other day, while I was cooking, I pulled out some wax paper. As I rolled it out, he said "Mamie, can I play with that road?" It got me thinking about something Jen did at Lil Mop Top. She had made some roads with a pair of old jeans. Due to some shrinkage that I'm blaming on the dryer, some of my pants weren't fitting so well. I guess I could sacrifice a pair to Reid's infrastructure. I took out a pair of gray slacks and started cutting.

I didn't bother edging them since this wasn't to be an elaborate set up. I cut a few straight roadways, a couple of intersections and some curves. I used a white paint pen to add white stripes down the middle. That's it. Simple, fast and I know something he will enjoy. I'm going to make a bag for him to carry them in and add a few cars (ones I already have around the house). I think that this will be great to carry around when he has to wait and needs something for quiet play. And...It was FREE.Posted with Blogsy
